note: I'll just put it here, but this character is a walking spoiler for Dangan Ronpa up through endgame, Dangan Ronpa 0, parts of Super Dangan Ronpa 2, and probably any other associated media. There's really no way for me to avoid these. I'm sorry.

CHARACTER INFO

Character Name: Mukuro Ikusaba
Character Canon: Dangan Ronpa

History:
Before everything went to hell, Mukuro and her her younger twin sister, Junko, lived in a world that was similar to our modern one. They grew up in harsh conditions, to the point where they were homeless for some period of time (canon is vague about this). As a child, she showed great interest in the military field, and even excelled at survival competitions and wrote for military-themed magazines. Just before middle school, she disappeared on a trip to Europe. During this time, she willingly joined the mercenary group Fenrir, where she got training to be a soldier and experience in battle. After three years, she returned to help her sister - by then a successful model who had... darker ambitions.

Junko's goal was to spread Despair to the world, which is sort of like our concept of despair, but is highly contagious and acts almost more like a disease. Those who are "infected" derive pleasure from being in despair and spreading despair. They'll go to great lengths to spread despair, to the point of harming/killing others or themselves.

Mukuro and her sister enrolled in Hope's Peak Academy, an elite high school dedicated to trying to raise the "hope" of the future. They only accepted the extremely gifted. Mukuro joined as Super High School Level Soldier (sometimes translated as Ultimate Soldier). Junko created an organization called Super High School Level Despair (Ultimate Despair), which Mukuro was part of. Her organization worked to manipulate the students until she managed to incite the Worst Most Despair-Inducing Incident in the History of Mankind (sometimes just The Tragedy). This event involved forcing the Student Council to kill each other until there were only two survivors. This event was broadcasted to other parts of the school, where it caused unrest about the nature of the school. This unrest spread to the rest of the world until the whole world fell into violence and despair. The administration of Hope's Peak was forced to close the school and turned it into a shelter for the remaining students. The students were willingly locked into the school to try to be protected as humanity's last hope. However, the school was not aware that Mukuro and Junko had managed to infiltrate the survivors who were locked in.

Junko then hijacked the shelter and erased everyone's memories except for her own and Mukuro's. She had Mukuro dress as her and pose as her so she could enact The School Life of Mutual Killing, which was a game played on the remaining students that would force them to kill each other, and then broadcast it to the world to create more despair. Mukuro pretended to be Junko while Junko acted as the mastermind and ran the game. Shortly into the game, Junko betrayed Mukuro and had her executed.

AU History:
Mukuro and her sister both grew up in Caldera. Their childhood was not very eventful, though not particularly happy. From a young age, she was interested in combat and military practices.

While she wasn't allowed to join the Caldera military due to being too young, she did fall in with a mercenary group that gave her extensive combat training. During training, her Enlightened/Earthkin abilities awoke. One of her comrades gave her a tattoo on her right hand with the emblem of a Mightyena.

She aided a little in the fight against Gigas. Most of her group disappeared or fled, and her sister also disappeared in the chaos. Mukuro went as a refuge to Union after Gigas left.

Or, well. That's what she says.

Canon Personality: Mukuro is a soldier, first and foremost. She is direct and unhesitating in her actions, and doesn't waste precious time in deciding what to do. In battle she is focused and cold, completely unflinching in the face of enemies. She can put her emotions away, become completely calm, and focus solely on her task and her enemies. She's comfortable on the battlefield, it's where her talents lay and where her experience lays.

..Of course, she can't always be on the battlefield. In in normal, everyday situations she's completely out of her element. She is awkward at best, and insecure and at worst - when faced with an issue that relies on her speaking or interacting, she feels helpless. Her speech is always simplistic, even at her most confident. When she's more uncertain, she adds more pauses and ellipses and occasionally even stammers. When pressured, she'll retreat into herself and give non-answers ("I can't.../I won't..."). When she feels especially cornered in conversation, she'll even shut down and fall silent. Mukuro is never explosive or loud, though - she is always subdued, whether when she's calm or when she's upset and anxious.

She's also a terrible, terrible actress. Mukuro spends a good deal of time in canon impersonating Junko for Junko's schemes, and every time she is awful at it. The only time she plays an accurate portrayal of her sister is when she has a script to go off of (Dangan Ronpa 0), and even then she stumbles over herself to cover when she is called out on any contradicting detail. Her ad-libed mimic of her sister, while retaining some of Junko's high-energy and teasing nature, is still described as "more chill than expected" by those around her who believe she's Junko. When she relaxes and lets her guard down, she forgets her disguise sometimes and lets out details that don't match (like knowledge of weapons) and then hastily tries to cover herself. She's insecure as herself but unable to become anyone else.

A large amount of her insecurity comes from her relationship with her sister. Mukuro is utterly devoted to her sister, and everything she does is for her sister or her sister's ideals. In turn, her sister degrades her and claims she is a "disappointment". Junko finds pleasure in driving her sister further into despair, and Mukuro internalizes everything she says. She willingly allows herself to be used and abused by her sister. She apologizes constantly to her sister at the slightest provocation. Mukuro is so wrapped up in her sister that the only thing to break her focus on the battlefield is Junko's voice.

All her motivations are based around her sister. While, in canon, she is actively working to create despair, it's because that's what her sister wants. Her own desire for despair is intrinsically linked to her desire to please her sister, and so she is not as attached to despair as Junko is. In canon, she is somewhat separated from her sister while disguised, and her interaction with the other students begins to make her doubt her role in causing despair. However, that's not quite enough to fully pull her away. In Dangan Ronpa IF (a canon AU where Mukuro survives), even after Junko attempts to kill her, Mukuro doesn't immediately turn away from her sister. It's not until Junko clearly disowns and betrays Mukuro that she decides to deviate from her sister's ideals - but even then, she decides that she will continue to try and cause Junko despair (read: give Junko what she wants) by helping Junko's enemies. Even before deserting her sister, she appears to feel uncomfortable about lying to her friends (the other students), and even considers asking Junko to spare one of them who she's grown close.

AU Deviation: Mukuro is much better at functioning away from and independent of her sister. She can rely on her sister's ideals and her own desire to fulfill them to guide her actions. She is much less likely to be swayed away from her sister's ideals - it's still possible, but would take much longer with multiple people she felt comfortable around. She is a better liar, slightly, though she's still bad with keeping her details straight.

In addition, when she becomes stressed in social situations (past when she would normally "shut down"), she begins to mimic Junko. She becomes louder, more talkative, somewhat flirtatious, and will tease those around her. If she is extremely stressed, it can even progress to a point where she will actually believe she is Junko. These fits are always temporary, and can last anywhere from a few minutes to a few days, depending on how stressed she is.

Canon Abilities: Extremely skilled in the use of a variety of weapons and on the battlefield, enough so that even though she went through many battes she came out without a single scratch. Also has some limited medical knowledge, learned on the battlefield.

Enlightened Abilities: Poochyena Shifter. Currently knows tackle, howl, and sand attack.

Her Poochyena form has freckle-like spots on her muzzle and cheeks and blue-grey eyes, but otherwise looks like a normal Poochyena. Her human form has pointed canine teeth.

In addition, she has extensive combat training. Her hand-to-hand (or paw-to-hand) skills are exceptional, especially for her age and level. She's also trained on a variety of weapons. Going into the game I'd like if she could have at least one (non-enhanced, just normal) knife with her.

Starter Pokémon: Houndour

Notes/Special Considerations: Sending the mod account a PM with app addendum for the things I discussed with the mods.

Well-guarded. The Signal Tower was tall and impressive, sure, but the fact it was well-guarded meant a whole lot more than any height could ever show. And with THAT many guards, it had to be extremely vital to the city. If it were to go down... Mukuro eyed the tower from where she was leaning against a wall a couple blocks away and thought.

There were two guards stationed on the entrance she could see. Enlightened, probably, since one had a pair of horns sticking out of his hair. She'd already seen them stop three people, two of which they'd turned away. High security. A tower this size, there were probably at least three more entrances, though this didn't look to even be the main one. An entrance with less traffic would have less alert guards. That'd be ideal for breaking in. Hypothetically, of course. Mukuro narrowed her eyes. Yes... if these guards were taken out, there'd only be a few minutes before someone noticed. But a different entrance, maybe-

"-Pii?"

Mukuro nearly jumped. On instinct she tensed and balled her fist. A Pidove had hopped over beside her and chirped. Her adrenaline rush hadn't died down yet, and she just stared at it for a moment. It tugged gently at her shoe.

"Ah..." She shook her foot to try and spook it. The Pidove chirped and hopped back a foot, looking up at the Tower. It looked between Mukuro and the Tower, and then glare suspiciously at her. Mukuro swallowed thickly. Did it suspect her?

"Ah, I - I was just... admiring it," she explained, glancing up at the Tower. "It's, um, really impressive. The technology and that. Advance security, that's really rare, it's not every day you see that many guards on a build-" The Pidove narrowed its eyes. Mukuro coughed awkwardly.

"R-right, well, I've got somewhere to be." Mukuro pulled herself off the wall and turned around stiffly. Behind her, she could hear the faint click-click of the Pidove hopping after her, but it only took a few hops after her. It wasn't until she was about halfway down the block that she heard the flutter of wings. Mukuro sighed in relief, and then let her shoulders droop. Getting nervous over a silly Pidove... she really was a disappointment.
